The country was mesmerized by the trial of Alex Murdaugh, the disgraced South Carolina lawyer accused of murdering his wife and son to gain pity and distract from financial crimes. Further, there have been numerous television portrayals of this crime and many other true crime cases including Bill Cosby and the Tiger King. True crime is very popular on television and can be a very successful continuing legal education presentation. In this presentation, we will explore how true crime continuing legal education can capture the attention of an audience and provide a teaching tool for such topics as ethics and litigation skills. The goal of this program is to discuss true crime programs and the process of creating a true crime presentation.
